Types of piling used for residential foundation repairs include concrete piers, pressed pilings, steel piers, and bell-bottom piers. These methods are long-term foundation solutions that restore your home’s foundation to its original level stronger than slab jacking.


Pressed concrete pilings are long-lasting foundation piers that can be used for interior and exterior repairs. They are suitable for both pier and beam houses and concrete slab foundations. To ensure durability, properly installed pressed concrete piers must be pushed deep into the earth, generally 12 ft. deep.


Poured concrete piers in residential foundation repair are driven about 10 feet deep and take around 7-10 days to heal. Poured concrete piers take longer to install than pressed concrete pilings because the latter uses precast concrete segments which are already recovered at the time of installation.


Bell bottom concrete piers are built in the same way as poured/drilled concrete piers. The base of the pier has a bell-shaped “foot” designed to provide the pier with a wide area of support. Bell bottom piers, like poured concrete piers, are constructed by casting the concrete into an unearthed hole and embedding steel in the wet cement.


Steel piers are strong and can be pushed as deep as 100 feet, providing unbelievable stability to the foundation of your home. Because of the depth that steel piers can reach, the piers would not shift in expansive clay soil because the piers should be pushed down to bedrock.


Helical piers are, also known as anchors, are prevalently used to repair lightweight concrete slab foundations and pier and beam foundations.

Helical piers are also used to safeguard and protect new residential foundations in addition to foundation repair.

Helical piers are used when other methods cannot be used due to weather conditions. The piers are threaded into the ground to a pre-set load capacity, and the structure’s weight is transmitted to the piers and the load-bearing soil.
